How to publish in this journal


Since 1960, the Journal of Mathematical Physics (JMP) has published some of the best papers from outstanding mathematicians and physicists. JMP was the first journal in the field of mathematical physics and publishes research that connects the application of mathematics to problems in physics, as well as illustrates the development of mathematical methods for such applications and for the formulation of physical theories. The Journal of Mathematical Physics (JMP) features content in all areas of mathematical physics. Specifically, the articles focus on areas of research that illustrate the application of mathematics to problems in physics, the development of mathematical methods for such applications, and for the formulation of physical theories. The mathematics featured in the articles are written so that theoretical physicists can understand them. JMP also publishes review articles on mathematical subjects relevant to physics as well as special issues that combine manuscripts on a topic of current interest to the mathematical physics community. JMP welcomes original research of the highest quality in all active areas of mathematical physics, including the following: Partial Differential Equations Representation Theory and Algebraic Methods Many Body and Condensed Matter Physics Quantum Mechanics - General and Nonrelativistic Quantum Information and Computation Relativistic Quantum Mechanics, Quantum Field Theory, Quantum Gravity, and String Theory General Relativity and Gravitation Dynamical Systems Classical Mechanics and Classical Fields Fluids Statistical Physics Methods of Mathematical Physics. The set of journals have been ranked according to their SJR and divided into four equal groups, four quartiles. Q1 (green) comprises the quarter of the journals with the highest values, Q2 (yellow) the second highest values, Q3 (orange) the third highest values and Q4 (red) the lowest values.

The SJR is a size-independent prestige indicator that ranks journals by their 'average prestige per article'. It is based on the idea that 'all citations are not created equal'. SJR is a measure of scientific influence of journals that accounts for both the number of citations received by a journal and the importance or prestige of the journals where such citations come from It measures the scientific influence of the average article in a journal, it expresses how central to the global scientific discussion an average article of the journal is.

Citations per document

This indicator counts the number of citations received by documents from a journal and divides them by the total number of documents published in that journal. The chart shows the evolution of the average number of times documents published in a journal in the past two, three and four years have been cited in the current year. The two years line is equivalent to journal impact factor ™ (Thomson Reuters) metric.
