Scope

Educação & Realidade [Education & Reality]'s mission is the advancement of scientific research in the field of education and the encouragement of academic debate for the production of new knowledge. It aims at the creation of new analytical tools in order to expand the frontiers of thought and practice in the field of education. In its more than 40 years of existence, Education & Reality has been carrying out this mission through a consistent editorial policy, centered on the quality of the articles offered to its readers. Education & Reality is a quarterly publication and publishes articles – related to various areas of the field of education and its interface with the arts, philosophy, letters, social sciences and humanities – which come from theoretical studies, empirical research, analysis of specific practices or polemical and current debates. The journal publishes articles in Portuguese, English or Spanish and all texts undergo double blind peer-review, regardless of how they were submitted. For an article to be published in Education & Reality, it must be original and offer a perspective that contributes to the discussion and advancement of the knowledge in its particular area of the field of education. All issues of Education & Reality are organized around a theme that provides an identity to them (they receive a title, pointing to the questions highlighted in this issue). This policy still leaves space for the publication of texts submitted in the general pool of articles. The showcasing of a plurality of theoretical perspectives is one of the pillars of the editorial policy of Education & Reality, as evidenced by its history of leadership in proposing trending issues in education. The journal aims to serve as a vehicle not only for the knowledge and research that are already consolidated, but also for innovative perspectives, both regarding the arguments and the methodology, that are presented as alternatives to the established models.
