Scope

Clinical Mass Spectrometry publishes peer-reviewed articles addressing the application of mass spectrometric technologies in Laboratory Medicine and Clinical Pathology with a focus on diagnostic applications. It is the first journal dedicated specifically to the application of mass spectrometry and related techniques in the context of diagnostic procedures in medicine. The journal has an interdisciplinary approach aiming to link clinical, biochemical and technological issues and results. Beyond the application of mass spectrometric technologies in the routine clinical diagnostic setting, by publishing critically validated analytical protocols, Clinical Mass Spectrometry also addresses the translation of experimental techniques and analytical research into patients' care and the use of mass spectrometry in clinical research, studies, and routine patient care. The scope of the journal is not restricted to any particular mass spectrometric technologies, but covers the entire methodological range of mass spectrometry and hyphenated technologies. Subject areas covered by the journal include, but are not restricted to: Endocrinology, Protein quantification, Therapeutic drug monitoring, Toxicology, Neonatal screening, Clinical lipidomics, Clinical glycomics, Clinical metabolomics and metabolic analyses, Protein variant detection, Microbiology, Imaging, On-site technologies, New technologies including automation, Data Science, Cross technology investigations, Validation, standardization and quality management, Reference methods, materials and measurement services, Regulatory aspects in diagnostic applications, Mass spectrometry based clinical studies, Error sources, risk assessment and patient safety. The SJR is a size-independent prestige indicator that ranks journals by their 'average prestige per article'. It is based on the idea that 'all citations are not created equal'. SJR is a measure of scientific influence of journals that accounts for both the number of citations received by a journal and the importance or prestige of the journals where such citations come from It measures the scientific influence of the average article in a journal, it expresses how central to the global scientific discussion an average article of the journal is.
