Scope

The Journal of Phonetics publishes papers of an experimental or theoretical nature that deal with phonetic aspects of language and linguistic communication processes. Papers dealing with technological and/or pathological topics, or papers of an interdisciplinary nature are also suitable, provided that linguistic-phonetic principles underlie the work reported. Regular articles, review articles, and letters to the editor are published. Themed issues are also published, devoted entirely to a specific subject of interest within the field of phonetics. Research Areas Include: • Speech production, the application of various measurement techniques, physiological modeling, development of production models, and theories. • Speech acoustics, methods of acoustic data analysis, compression, and processing. • Speech perception, perception models, auditory and neural representation of speech, and processing of speech vs non-speech signals. • Phonetic aspects of psycholinguistics, word recognition models, and psychological representation of speech in terms of various units. • Speech synthesis, linguistic analysis aimed at improving synthesis systems. • Automatic speech recognition and speaker recognition. • Descriptive phonetics pertaining to individual languages. • The relation between phonetics and phonology. • Vocal fold functioning in normal and pathological speech. • Various aspects of pathological speech production, acoustics, and perception. • Speech and language acquisition. • Phonetic aspects of foreign language acquisition. SJR

The SJR is a size-independent prestige indicator that ranks journals by their 'average prestige per article'. It is based on the idea that 'all citations are not created equal'. SJR is a measure of scientific influence of journals that accounts for both the number of citations received by a journal and the importance or prestige of the journals where such citations come from It measures the scientific influence of the average article in a journal, it expresses how central to the global scientific discussion an average article of the journal is.

Citations per document

This indicator counts the number of citations received by documents from a journal and divides them by the total number of documents published in that journal. The chart shows the evolution of the average number of times documents published in a journal in the past two, three and four years have been cited in the current year. The two years line is equivalent to journal impact factor ™ (Thomson Reuters) metric.

Estimated financial value

It represents the potential financial worth of a journal. It is obtained by multiplying the journal's Estimated APC by the total number of citable documents published over the past five years. This value reflects the hypothetical revenue a journal could generate based on its estimated publication costs and scholarly output.
