Scope
Genealogy (ISSN 2313-5778) is an open access, peer-reviewed, academic journal that publishes research on all aspects of genealogy and genealogy-related phenomena. Our aim is to provide an advanced, scholarly forum for the dissemination of empirical, comparative, theoretical, and multi-/interdisciplinary approaches to the role of genealogy in different kinds of social processes, from families, to communities, institution building, transnational networks, and states. Genealogy covers every region of the world and all periods of time. By bringing together research and scholarship that examine family, generational, ethnic, ancestral, and national bonds, Genealogy offers a unique platform for focused consideration of the evolution and persistence of genealogical bonds, i.e., bonds relating to birth—in a particular community, land, or epoch—as a distinct category of human and social relations, and their impact and reciprocal effect on cultural, legal, political–territorial, and economic phenomena. Genealogy publishes reviews, original research articles, and essays, as well as Special Issues on particular subjects.
The aim of Genealogy is to encourage scholars to publish the results of their investigations in as much detail as possible. Therefore, the journal has no restriction on the maximum length of the papers. We welcome original research manuscripts, reviews, perspectives, conference reports and book reviews. We also publish biographies and memoirs.
