How to publish in this journal

Scope

Aging Brain is an Open Access journal that complements Neurobiology of Aging which, in its 40th anniversary in 2020, is the premier journal in the field of aging neuroscience. Aging Brain will publish papers that contribute to knowledge of the mechanisms underlying healthy (or adaptive) and pathological aging of the brain, as well as the iterative communication of signals between the brain, other organs and the external environment that promote or disrupt the mental health span. Papers that employ multiple levels of analysis, that integrate knowledge from established and emerging disciplines and technological developments, and which demonstrate translation into improved medical approaches, are particularly welcome. The journal accepts: Original research, Reviews, Short Communications, Registered Reports, Point of Interest and Letters to the Editor, provided they demonstrate originality, scientific rigor, observance of ethical standards and represent a significant contribution to the field. At the same time, and notwithstanding the above-mentioned criteria, it will serve as a platform for the presentation early reports and ideas that will stimulate research on brain aging. Registered Reports will be of interest to clinical scientists, but also to researchers undertaking experiments in animals. Join the conversation about this journal
Quartiles

The set of journals have been ranked according to their SJR and divided into four equal groups, four quartiles. Q1 (green) comprises the quarter of the journals with the highest values, Q2 (yellow) the second highest values, Q3 (orange) the third highest values and Q4 (red) the lowest values.

SJR

The SJR is a size-independent prestige indicator that ranks journals by their 'average prestige per article'. It is based on the idea that 'all citations are not created equal'. SJR is a measure of scientific influence of journals that accounts for both the number of citations received by a journal and the importance or prestige of the journals where such citations come from It measures the scientific influence of the average article in a journal, it expresses how central to the global scientific discussion an average article of the journal is.

Citations per document

This indicator counts the number of citations received by documents from a journal and divides them by the total number of documents published in that journal. The chart shows the evolution of the average number of times documents published in a journal in the past two, three and four years have been cited in the current year. The two years line is equivalent to journal impact factor ™ (Thomson Reuters) metric.

It estimates the article processing charges (APCs) a journal might charge, based on its visibility, prestige, and impact as measured by the SJR. It does not reflect the actual APC, but rather a calculated approximation based on journal quality.
