Scope The Journal of Organometallic Chemistry has a long-standing tradition for publishing original papers dealing with theoretical aspects, structural chemistry, synthesis, physical and chemical properties including reaction mechanisms, and practical applications of organometallic compounds. Because of the growing importance of organometallic complexes in bioorganometallic chemistry and material sciences, on one hand, and of heavier main group elements in organometallic chemistry, on the other hand, the scope of the Journal has been enlarged, and work covering these fields is also considered. Besides original papers, the Journal of Organometallic Chemistry publishes review articles communications and notes.

The SJR is a size-independent prestige indicator that ranks journals by their 'average prestige per article'. It is based on the idea that 'all citations are not created equal'. SJR is a measure of scientific influence of journals that accounts for both the number of citations received by a journal and the importance or prestige of the journals where such citations come from It measures the scientific influence of the average article in a journal, it expresses how central to the global scientific discussion an average article of the journal is.
