Scope

The scientific journal Investigaciones Geográficas has been published by the Interuniversity Institute of Geography (Alicante) since 1983. Since January 2012 (issue no. 57), the journal has been published every six months (January-June and July-December issues), and since issue no. 59 (January-June 2013) in digital format only, through this website. Its main aim is to contribute to the dissemination of geographical knowledge, in the broadest sense, and to be a means of expression for its scientific community. It accepts articles and bibliographic reviews, which must be original and unpublished, that make scientific contributions of a geographic nature, in any of its various fields of knowledge. The journal does sporadically accept contributions from related disciplines, such as History, Urban Planning, Ecology, Economics, Environment and Sociology, among others. It is geared specifically towards university students and researchers, and in a more general sense to all those interested in broadening their knowledge of human beings and their relationship with both the land and the landscape. Works of a merely informative nature or that do not make an original contribution to geographic knowledge are not accepted. Join the conversation about this journal
Quartiles

The set of journals have been ranked according to their SJR and divided into four equal groups, four quartiles. Q1 (green) comprises the quarter of the journals with the highest values, Q2 (yellow) the second highest values, Q3 (orange) the third highest values and Q4 (red) the lowest values.

SJR

The SJR is a size-independent prestige indicator that ranks journals by their 'average prestige per article'. It is based on the idea that 'all citations are not created equal'. SJR is a measure of scientific influence of journals that accounts for both the number of citations received by a journal and the importance or prestige of the journals where such citations come from It measures the scientific influence of the average article in a journal, it expresses how central to the global scientific discussion an average article of the journal is.

Citations per document

This indicator counts the number of citations received by documents from a journal and divides them by the total number of documents published in that journal. The chart shows the evolution of the average number of times documents published in a journal in the past two, three and four years have been cited in the current year. The two years line is equivalent to journal impact factor ™ (Thomson Reuters) metric.
