Scope

Brumal. Research Journal on the Fantastic is presented as an interdisciplinary and multilingual publication aimed at researchers and specialists. The fantastic is understood here as an always problematic confrontation between the real and the impossible in a textual world imitating ours. Therefore, other non-mimetic genres like science fiction or fantasy, which do not adhere to this definition, are excluded in Brumal. Linked to the Grupo de Estudios sobre lo Fantástico (GEF, Research Group on the Fantastic) from the Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (www.lofantastico.com), Brumal welcomes works on the fantastic dealing with its different artistic manifestations (narrative, theatre, cinema, comic, painting, photography and video-games), in any language and from any country during the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries. Texts can be sent in Spanish, Catalan, Galician, English, French, Portuguese or Italian. Brumal is structured in three differentiated sections (Monograph, Miscellaneous and Reviews) and will be published every six months (december and june). Join the conversation about this journal
