Scope Skeletal Radiology, the Journal of the International Skeletal Society, and the Official Journal of the Society of Skeletal Radiology and the Australasian Musculoskeletal Imaging Group, serves as a forum for the dissemination of current knowledge and information dealing with disorders of the musculoskeletal system including the spine. Although the radiological aspects are emphasized, the journal adopts an interdisciplinary approach. Thus, the anatomical, pathological, physiological, clinical, metabolic and epidemiological aspects of the many entities affecting the musculoskeletal system each receive appropriate consideration. The journal publishes several different types of material. Carefully selected case reports are chosen because they illuminate new aspects of known entities, or because they are the earliest evidence of potential new entities. Case reports that include histological sections are favored, and a bibliography of the important references is always expected. Many, but by no means all, of the cases published are selected from the material presented at the annual meetings of the International Skeletal Society. Nonmembers are encouraged to send such cases for editorial consideration.

The SJR is a size-independent prestige indicator that ranks journals by their 'average prestige per article'. It is based on the idea that 'all citations are not created equal'. SJR is a measure of scientific influence of journals that accounts for both the number of citations received by a journal and the importance or prestige of the journals where such citations come from It measures the scientific influence of the average article in a journal, it expresses how central to the global scientific discussion an average article of the journal is.
