Scope
Mexican Journal of Ophthalmology (Revista Mexicana de Oftalmología, RMO) is the official publication of the Mexican Society of Ophthalmology (Sociedad Mexicana de Oftalmología) and is aimed to physicians, clinicians and researchers in the field of ophthalmology including ophthalmologists, visual pathologists, optometrists and any staff who collaborate and have an interest in visual health. The main objective of RMO is to serve as a means of communication and dissemination of new knowledge through the publication of research papers of the highest quality, allowing sharing of findings among researchers, as well as improving decision-making and thus medical care, for the visual welfare of our patients. RMO uses the double-masked external peer review method with an average online review and publication time of about 3 months and a rejection rate of around 60%.
RMO publishes bimonthly articles in all areas related to ophthalmology and visual sciences, including basic sciences, genetics and hereditary diseases, visual pathway, visual rehabilitation, neuro-ophthalmology, pediatric ophthalmology, strabismus, orbit and lacrimal, cornea and diseases of the ocular surface, anterior segment, glaucoma, ocular inflammatory diseases, and retina.
RMO accepts unsolicited publications from authors of any country in the world in both English and Spanish of clinical case reports, original research articles, review articles, meta-analyzes and letters to the editor. For greater dissemination of the articles, the Mexican Journal of Ophthalmology decided from 2018 translate into English (or Spanish) all articles at no cost to the authors. The contents are published in Spanish language in the printed version and in both languages in the online version.
