Scope

Australian Psychologist is the official applied practice and public policy journal of the Australian Psychological Society (APS). The journal aims to keep Australian psychologists informed about current issues in psychology, the science and practice of psychology, and psychology’s contribution to public policy, with particular emphasis on the Australian context. The journal also regularly features international contributions to facilitate scholarly exchange with Australian psychologists. Australian Psychologist publishes original contributions on the following topics of relevance for the science and practice of psychology: Development, evaluation, and use of psychological assessments and treatments; Empirical (quantitative and/or qualitative) studies of populations, including but not limited to individuals with disorders of mental health, and members of the Australian community; Studies related to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cross-cultural and demographic matters; Studies of gender, ethnicity, sexuality and sexual orientation, or diversity; Studies of personality, where these have a clear relevance to mental health, wellbeing, and the provision of psychological assessment and treatment; Studies of lifespan and developmental issues, where these have a clear relevance to mental health, wellbeing, and the provision of psychological assessment and treatment; Studies of clinical, community, counselling, health, forensic, neuropsychological, organizational and sport and exercise psychology; Quantitative and narrative reviews (e.g., meta-analyses, systematic reviews), qualitative research, commentaries, and methodologically sound case studies pertinent to the preceding topics. Quartiles

The set of journals have been ranked according to their SJR and divided into four equal groups, four quartiles. Q1 (green) comprises the quarter of the journals with the highest values, Q2 (yellow) the second highest values, Q3 (orange) the third highest values and Q4 (red) the lowest values.

SJR

The SJR is a size-independent prestige indicator that ranks journals by their 'average prestige per article'. It is based on the idea that 'all citations are not created equal'. SJR is a measure of scientific influence of journals that accounts for both the number of citations received by a journal and the importance or prestige of the journals where such citations come from It measures the scientific influence of the average article in a journal, it expresses how central to the global scientific discussion an average article of the journal is.
