Scope Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology: Part A, Enzyme Engineering and Biotechnology is a journal devoted to publishing the highest quality innovative papers I the fields of biochemistry and biotechnology. Though the typical focus of the journal is to report applications of novel scientific and technological breakthroughs, quality papers on technological subjects that are still in the proof-of-concept stage will also be considered. In addition, Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology will provide a forum for practical concepts of biotechnology, utilization, including controls, statistical data analysis, problem descriptions unique to a particular application, and bioprocess economic analyses. In this regard, case studies are of particular interest.

The SJR is a size-independent prestige indicator that ranks journals by their 'average prestige per article'. It is based on the idea that 'all citations are not created equal'. SJR is a measure of scientific influence of journals that accounts for both the number of citations received by a journal and the importance or prestige of the journals where such citations come from It measures the scientific influence of the average article in a journal, it expresses how central to the global scientific discussion an average article of the journal is.
