Madrid, January 17, 2011. Scimago Lab is glad to announce the release of a new update of Scimago Journal & Country Rank, our flagship Research Evaluation Environment incorporating journal and national research indicators corresponding to 2009. In addition to keeping site indicators in tune with the current state of the database, new website performance improvements have been incorporated to enhance user experience and speed up system response.
2009 Collection
After this update, the environment includes new data on impact, output, citation and international collaboration for 18,732 scholarly journals, conference proceedings and other scientific publications worldwide, 1,632 more than before. Besides, having about 2 million documents corresponding to 2009, the environment analyzes now more than 21 million documents — 10% rise —, and the increase of citations matched to build website’s performance and impact indicators is about 17%, rising from around 172 million to more than 200 million citations after the update.
National, Regional and World Science
The website has also incorporated 2009 output, citation and scientific impact indicators for countries, world regions and the world report sections. It is noteworthy that in 2009 China has reached the second position in the whole time (1996-2009) series, only behind USA — during 2009 China produced more scientific documents than UK and Germany together.
Indicators recalculated and Embedding redesigned
As usual, SJR indicators have been recalculated to accommodate bibliometric information provided by these new data and journal performance embeddings have been regenerated as well to include 2009 year information.
Some new journals do not inform the SJR indicator value due to that at the moment of release that information could have not been calculated. It will be certainly calculated and shown on April/May 2011 update.
