Genes & Development publishes high-quality research papers of broad general interest and biological significance in the areas of molecular biology, molecular genetics, and related fields. G&D publishes two research formats; Research papers and short Research Communications, in addition to Review Articles and Perspectives.

Genes & Development has been named one of the Top Ten Hottest Journals of the Millenium (1995-2005) in the field of Molecular Biology and Genetics and one of the Highest Impact Journals in All Fields (1995-2005) by ISI.
