Scope

Healthcare is at a turning point. We have entered a new era of high patient expectations, aging populations and socioeconomic constraints. At the same time, attention is focusing more closely on personalized/precision medicine approaches to healthcare delivery, and healthcare options, especially in fields such as oncology, are proliferating. The use of real-world evidence and big data offers the potential to harness vast amounts of medical data, but also brings significant methodological, legal and ethical challenges. There is now a pressing need to make direct comparisons between the available healthcare options and interventions in order to address uncertainties in optimal clinical practice. In this new environment, the goal of patient-centered outcomes research and comparative effectiveness research (CER) is to assist patients, physicians, purchasers, and policy makers to choose between the available options in order to improve healthcare delivery at the level of the individual and on a population scale. The underlying question in undertaking comparative effectiveness research is – which treatment will work best, in which patient, and under what circumstances? Against this backdrop, the peer-reviewed Journal of Comparative Effectiveness Research (ISSN: 2042-6305) provides a rapid-publication platform for debate, and for the presentation of new findings and research methodologies. SJR

The SJR is a size-independent prestige indicator that ranks journals by their 'average prestige per article'. It is based on the idea that 'all citations are not created equal'. SJR is a measure of scientific influence of journals that accounts for both the number of citations received by a journal and the importance or prestige of the journals where such citations come from It measures the scientific influence of the average article in a journal, it expresses how central to the global scientific discussion an average article of the journal is.

Citations per document

This indicator counts the number of citations received by documents from a journal and divides them by the total number of documents published in that journal. The chart shows the evolution of the average number of times documents published in a journal in the past two, three and four years have been cited in the current year. The two years line is equivalent to journal impact factor ™ (Thomson Reuters) metric.

Evolution of the number of total citation per document and external citation per document (i.e. journal self-citations removed) received by a journal's published documents during the three previous years. External citations are calculated by subtracting the number of self-citations from the total number of citations received by the journal’s documents.
